The Call

Back in February of this year Deb and I took our first missions trip to Nicaragua through Hope Project International a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching out to hungry, hurting, and abandoned, children around the world. Our purpose was to build houses in Cristo Rey for some very needy families. It was an incredible week of serving God, spending time with our fellow team members, and loving on the precious people of Nicaragua.

A few weeks after returning home we were driving along in our car one

day when I realized my wedding band was missing and that it must have come off

while in Cristo Rey building homes. At first it took me by surprise, and then I had this

overwhelming feeling that it wasn’t by accident that I had lost it there, but instead it was a God thing. In Ephesians chapter 5 the Apostle Paul speaks about husbands loving

their wives and laying down their lives for them as Christ loved the church and gave

Himself for her. We immediately sensed that God was asking us if we were willing to

lay our lives down for the people of Nicaragua.

After a few months of waiting on the Lord and wanting only His will, we have said yes to what we believe God is asking of us. We are very excited about this new direction in our lives and are now in the process of preparing to move to Managua, Nicaragua the capital city of 2.2 million people some time by the end of 2014. In order for that to happen we realize some miracles will have to take place. Fortunately, we serve a miracle working God who is well able. We move forward into the future with our confidence being, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37)
